31st Breakfast at Sustainability's

The adaptive reuse of cultural heritage can be used as a key strategy in the implementation of a circular economy. A taskforce on “Circular models for cultural heritage adaptive reuse in cities and regions” first convened in November 2018 to address this very point. In particular, the group works to link EU-funded actions on adaptive reuse of cultural heritage with those focusing on circular economy in cities and regions.

One year after the Taskforce first met, it will convene once more in ICLEI Member Brussels (Belgium) on 21 November 2019 as a Breakfast at Sustainability's event. The session will collect information on innovative models and tools developed by participant organisations across several topics, including:

  • Circular business models in cultural heritage adaptive reuse;
  • Circular financing models and tools; and
  • Evaluation tools in governance, business and financing.

The taskforce stems from the Horizon 2020 project CLIC – "Circular models Leveraging Investments in Cultural heritage adaptive reuse." Its second meeting marks a key opportunity for varied stakeholders to join forces to showcase what is being done in the field of circular and creative cities. This interactive session – which is supported by ICLEI Europe, ICHEC, and IRISS CNR – will engage further on these topical issues.
